About The Event
We are happy to say that Mary Abo, Karleen Grummet and her sister Margie will be joining us. They will be in town for the Panel Discussion at the Federal Bar Association Annual Conference regarding the Japanese Internment experience in Alaska which will occur from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, at the Dena'ina Center. As you know, Marie Matsuno Nash will also be joining them in the discussion.
As we previously advised, the panel discussion will be open to the public free of charge. That is unprecedented. But, the Alaska Federal Bar Association felt strongly enough that the panel discussion would also be of significant interest to others outside the Bar Association, that they have generously opened it up to the public.
Please plan to attend the Panel Discussion and invite everyone that you think may be interested. Judges from the U.S. District Court in Alaska, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will be there as well. This is a rare opportunity to meet the judges. The Ninth Circuit Court Exhibit re: Executive Order 9066 will also be open at the Federal Bar Conference. E.O. gave the U.S. Military the authority to exclude the Japanese and Japanese Americans from the West Coast, resulting in the incarceration of over 100,000 people of Japanese descent in "Internment" Camps. Please bring your families and friends to listen to the Panel Discussion and see the Exhibit.
